A Pandemic Tea Party

A story written to provide comfort for kids during COVID

About the Book

Despite the physical and emotional challenges that Julie faces due to COVID-19, she finds comfort in her imagination. Join her, Lady, Billy and all her new friends at an exciting tea party! By using her own creativity, she is taken to a safe land where there is happiness and hope but most of all, a mental break from the ongoing stress and isolation due to the pandemic. This book was written not just for children but for the whole family to provide comfort during a difficult time.

About the Author

I’m a 38 year old big kid that likes to use her imagination. Arts and crafts, spending time with family and being a goof ball makes me happy. This children’s book will hopefully be the first of many. To me, imagination is the key to making a sad or difficult situation doable! We all have ups and downs in life, myself included! I struggle with depression and anxiety at times but when I am at my lowest, I try to use my imagination to bring me up again. If this book can help kids to see they’re not alone in their emotional reactions to COVID I have achieved what I set out to do.

Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?

A Pandemic Tea Party is about a sweet young girl named Julie who represents so many young children out there who have been impacted by COVID 19. In my opinion, kids have had the biggest blow to their reality! Being secluded and separated from the real world has stunted many kid’s cognitive development and put a strain on their social relationships. I wrote this book for parents and children alike to read and relate to. I hope they can see a little of their Covid 19 experiences in the main character, Julie! She was sad and lonely but able to channel these emotions into imagination, happiness and laughter!

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?

Honestly, this book is for any age and my hope is that it can be read together to be therapeutic to children and parents alike. Kids 5-6 years of age and up should be able to read with some minor assistance.

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

Personally I loved the Harry Potter books! They are magical and convey friendship, teamwork and hope. They always kept my interest and I couldn’t stop reading once I started.

Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?

Look deep inside yourself and write about what makes you happy. Write about what makes your heart feel good. If you can put your emotions behind your words the readers will have a much stronger connection to you and your story.

Qn 5: Where can our readers find out more about you, do you have a website, or a way to be contacted?
