Armed with connections and a sharp whit, maybe victory won’t be unattainable.
About the Author
Heaven Love is from a small town, Sapulpa, Oklahoma which is about half an hour outside of Tulsa. She lived there during most of her childhood moving to Edmond, Oklahoma outside of Oklahoma City during her high school years. She’s always loved writing ever since she could grab a pencil. Heaven would write songs and short stories writing her first “book” about a dog and cat being friends when she was around five years old. She took a few years off from most writing, only writing lyrics to songs in her free time.
Heaven Love got back into writing in high school and worked on the first book in the “Cyber Spy” series for about two and a half years. She’s currently at university in Wichita, Kansas pursuing a marketing degree and minor in English. During her free time, she likes to voice act, sing, and work on her other projects including the other 2 books of this series, her musical “An Author’s Reflection”, and an animated short.
Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book – Cyber Spy, What is it about?
‘Cyber Spy’ is the first in a series and is a young adult fiction novella that brings into consideration what happens if you put your trust into technology too much. There’s an app called ‘Lifeview’ that is a permanent live stream on your phone that watches you 24/7. You cannot delete the app or turn it off in any way. Rebekkah Rye, a girl from Oklahoma, gets sucked into this reality as she sees the app take advantage of people she knows.
The book also dives deep into hard topics to talk about like stalking, cybercrime, mental health, suicide, and domestic violence.
Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested Cyber Spy, is it directed at any particular market?
I would definitely say that young adults are the majority of people who have checked out the book so far. Because of some hard topics discussed, I’ve usually been recommending that those who read it are comfortable with such topics. I think the book has something for everybody though, so it really does depend on what each person likes.
Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors to choose from, which are your favourite and why?
Oh gosh. That’s actually really tough because I go back and forth from F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ruta Sepetys. I’ve had to read Fitzgerald throughout the years. It amazes me what he writes.
I also adore Sepetys who is a historical fiction author. She just has so many great books that are eye-opening. My favorite is the book ‘Between Shades of Gray’ which takes a look at camps under Stalin’s orders during World War II.
Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new to the writing world, or who was trying to enhance their craft or business?
Work hard but also make time for yourself. I’ve struggled with this over the years and sometimes find myself forgetting about other important things in the world. My writing is my world; however, so is everything else dear to me such as my family and friends.
I would also say to not lose the passion in you no matter what other people may say. That doesn’t mean it will be easy whatsoever, but I think one of the most important things to remember with any type of craft is to stay driven and not let criticism get to you. You’re awesome. Always remember that. Don’t let anyone try to tell you otherwise.
