About the Book

This is a story about a bat named Charlie, who lived on a hill with a witch named Kathy, a broom, a mouse, and another bat, named Tina. The witch and her crew tried to stop Halloween in a small village in Salem. Charlie the bat loved the people of the village and worked hard to thwart the witch’s evil plans. Did Charlie save Halloween? Read the book to find out.

About the Author

I’m a farm boy. I grew up in Upstate, New York, about an hour’s drive south of Rochester, New York. I grew up in a small country town named, Nunda. I went to Keshequa Central School, and graduated in 1987. I moved around the State,, moved out west at one point, and now currently live in Ohio.

Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?

The story takes place in Salem, Massachusetts when the pilgrims were forming small communities. A witch and her little group of followers was determined to stop the Halloween events in the small but growing community. Charlie the bat cared, and had affection for the people of the community in Salem, he wanted them to have Halloween, so he decided to stop the witch and her effort to stop Halloween.

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?

I think it will be enjoyed by children between the ages of 8 to 12, I think it will be enjoyed by everyone really, young, older, Grandparents, Moms, Dads.

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

Stephen King, I am intrigued by him because he has a wild, and scary images. I’ll never really know where he dreams up some of these stories, but it’s genius! My favourite book by him is “Salem’s Lot”, and the miniseries. It had me believing in vampires.

Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?

Just write. When you have those moments of self-doubt, or whenever you have writer’s block, just leave it for now, and go back to it later. Walk away, get refreshed, even if it is a day or two. Advice for new authors especially, belief in yourself, believe you can do it.

Qn 6: Can you tell us more about Charlie, why will readers enjoy finding out about his adventure?

Charlie is kind, giving, and has affection for the pilgrims in the village. Charlie believes in happiness, and so he fights, and stands up for the people of the village.

Qn 7: Does Charlie meet any other creatures of friends whilst he tries to save Halloween?

Charlie meets the pilgrims, and the children and he begins to form a bond with them.

Qn 8: Will there be more stories about Charlie and his adventures?

I’d like there to be. I’ve thought about another seasonal adventure, maybe a cute, but magical Christmas story. But we’ll see what my mind comes up with.

Qn 9: What was your inspiration to write about a bat that saved Halloween?

I have a dear friend, Charlie, he is a lot like the character I think. It’s special.

Qn 10: What is next for you, do you plan to write more?

I plan to write more. It’s an adventure, and an amazing journey. I want to keep going on this new path.
