About the Book

DEFEAT A BULLY: NO BOXING GLOVES NEEDED A BULLYING GUIDE FOR KIDS AND PARENTS

How common is bullying? Almost three-quarters of children worldwide are affected by bullying. Bullying affects all youth in some way, including those who are bullied, those who bully others, and those who witness bullying. The effects of bullying may continue into adulthood. There is no single profile of a child involved in bullying episodes. In this six-chapter guide, designed for youths and parents, you will learn how to clearly identify bullying and stand up to it safely. This guide, in simple language, helps kids understand: The four main types of bullying, why they may be targeted by bullies, how to cope with bullying, the serious effects of bullying and what they can practically do about it. Kids who know what bullying is can better identify it and more readily talk about bullying if it happens to them or others. In addition, this guide discusses the importance of improving self-esteem and self-acceptance.

Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?

My book is about how to deal with the ever-growing problem of bullying. I wrote an easy to read guide that helps young people better understand what bullying is and its effects and how to stand up to kids who bully them. Each page has carefully chosen coloured pictures so kids can visually see what bullying looks like and clearly identify the different types of bullying. My 100-page guide will help encourage kids to speak to a trusted adult if they are bullied or see others being bullied.

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?

This guide is directed at young ones (ages 7-12) parents, caregivers, school staff, and other caring adults that can give comfort, support, and advice with the help of this guide. When adults respond quickly and consistently to bullying behaviour, they send the message that it is not acceptable. Research shows this support can stop bullying behaviour over time.

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

My favourite book is the Bible. Although, it is an old book it still has great principles regarding the family that we can apply today. One example I like is found in 1 Corinthians 15:33 where it reminds young ones that bad associations spoil useful habits.

Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?

Always write about a topic you personal care about. That passion and interest will easily shine through in your writing and readers will feel that.

Qn 5: Where can our readers find out more about you, do you have a website, or a way to be contacted?

I have an Amazon Author page: https://www.amazon.com/author/virtualeducation
In addition, I can be contacted directly at the following email: lisabuchanan@timetoteach.com
Also, I teach a live online anti-bullying class for kids ages 5-10 so anyone interested can simply email me for more details. Thank you!
