About the Author

Dr. Davis was born on the island of St. Thomas USVI in the sunny Caribbean but resides in the state of Texas. She earned her Doctorate of Education degree in 2018 where she chose to focus her dissertation on the Blind or Visually Impaired so the world could better understand how this population which is falling into poverty, feels about employment whether in or outside of the blindness field.

Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?

In 2018 after enduring a horrible experience while obtaining my Doctorate of Education, I decided to write a book to put my university on blast. God was not pleased with that idea, so I wrote my book as a tool to share what goes on while obtaining this degree, outside of the so-called prestige that comes with those three letters. I share important tips I learned while also sharing weaker points in the journey to include quitting my program.

In 2022 I realized there was information I could use to add additional tangible tools for other students so their journey can be a little easier. No matter who you are, the PhD, Doctoral journey will be a difficult and life-changing one. Many will start, not many will complete the journey. I created these tools in the simplest, straight to the point way I could. This will be a series of five books as one book on Data Collection is being created as I write this information. Students don’t have to purchase all of my books, but one of the most important books I wrote was the first one, and the research article organizer. If I could tell any student who is broke and can only afford one book, I would say to purchase the article organizer. How I wish I had known this information while going through my program. I promise you will thank me even if you never reach out to let me know.

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?

My series is targeted to anyone who is considering doing a Master’s thesis a PhD, or a Doctorate (EdD) dissertation no matter the methodology or design. The main title of the series is an important book as it shares a lot of information I learned too late. At the end of the book, I explain what a person should consider before deciding what university they should attend. I also provide websites they can use and terms they should learn before attending a program. Though the book was written from the perspective of an online student. These books will also help students who choose to attend a brick and mortar university. My university was a brick and mortar university with an online extension.

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

I try to never limit myself by having a favourite of anything. I don’t have a favourite food because I love to eat. I have a favourite colour because it stands out when I see it, but I also have lots of other colours that I love. Picking a favourite ice cream? Hmm, that would be a toss-up between Strawberry and Pralines and Cream, so again, I have no favourite.

One of my most precious books is the BIBLE, particularly the Book of Proverbs, and Streams in the Desert, a daily devotional that should be read like a novel the first time, but you must have a box of Kleenex when you do.

More than any other books, my most precious are the books I created because they were created from my love, from my pain, from my dreams, from my brains and from my soul. I created all of my books to show the love that might bring joy, help, and support to many. to choose one favourite book would be like asking me to choose a favourite child. All of the books I created are my favourite.

There are authors I admire, hence there would be too numerous to mention.

Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?

Always be true to yourself even if no one supports you. Write in whatever genre you want to until you find your niche, and if you don’t find your niche, keep writing. You will always have at least one person that will want to see you fail and you may never know who it is. Focus on the people who support you no matter how little. Never accept a free ISBN unless you are sure you don’t want your book on another site, or you can’t afford an ISBN because they are expensive, always have someone beta read your work, and find a good editor unless you absolutely can’t afford one. Writing is an expensive hobby but nothing beats the thrill of seeing your catalogue grow, or when you see your new books the first time you open the box and line them up on your shelf.

Qn 5: Where can our readers find out more about you, do you have a website, or a way to be contacted?
