About the Book
It’s 1900, the start of a brand new century. The Blaylock family is fine just the way they are—until the arrival of spirited new maid Victoria, whose eccentricities teach them that, with a little humor and a lot of love, change isn’t a bad thing.
About the Author
I’m from Cleveland, Ohio (and proud of it). As a filmmaker, I’ve made several period pieces on a budget and I’m currently in post-production for an original scripted series. I’ve been a barista, a film set decorator, and a haunted house actor, but I like writing and making my own films the best.
Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?
“The Reign of Victoria; or, the Year That Everything Changed” is a Victorian-style comedy of manners – and like its historical counterparts, it’s being published serially on my website. One chapter will be released a month.
Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?
Anyone who adores costume dramas will find something to like in my novel – and beyond that, anyone who is seeking a colorful, character-driven story in a historical setting.
Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?
I’m absolutely enamored with Oscar Wilde. Charlotte Bronte is one of my heroes – I think “Jane Eyre” is one the best novels ever written. I admire Flannery O’Connor’s blunt prose and odd insights. Edgar Allan Poe will always be one of my true loves. Maud Hart Lovelace’s “Betsy-Tacy” books hold an incredibly special place in my heart (I’ve read every book at least ten times).
Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?
Try to not outline or plan or over-research – just write. You might be amazed at the amount of inspiration and momentum you can find by just allowing yourself to jump into the story without any idea of where you’re going. The story ends up telling itself.
Qn 5: Where can our readers find out more about you, do you have a website, or a way to be contacted?
The very same home of my novel (www.angelineproductions.com) is where you can discover my other creative projects.
