Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?

Field Trip to the Farm is an enjoyable journey of the curiosity and thrill of the children on their field trip to Ramsey farm.

In this book, Mr Shipman gives his class a tour of the Ramsey farms, where children meet so many farm animals like cows, pigs, chickens and explore so much more about different fruits and vegetables that grow on the farms.

DeWayne, a little boy, is excited about his field trip to the Ramsey farms, then his sister, Banicia, tells her story about her field trip to the farms with Mr Shipman.

Join Mr Shipman’s class to know how much fun children have on the farms, from chicken train to pig race, cornfield maze to apple orchards, and a lot more.

The illustrations are so colourful and help children to learn about farm animals and food. The educational story teaches about love, kindness, caring, friendship, teamwork, and spreading awareness about farm animals. I’m sure children will love this book and read it again and again.

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?

This is the fifth book in the series and my sons think it’s the best. The series is based on true events. I taught kindergarten for 11 years. I still keep in touch with many of the students and parents. We had a try, MULTICULTURAL class. I have a globe that has been with me since I first start teaching 28 years ago. On the globe, I have circled every country that children or their parents have come from. There are over 25 different countries circled on the globe.@T

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

The Bible is my favourite
I also like
the Harry Potter Series
The Autobiography of Malcolm X

Dracula
I have been reading comic books since I was a kid.

Qn 6: Why is it important to you to write your books and share them with others?

My experience teaching kindergarten was very unique. There aren’t too many male teachers on the elementary level and especially Black male kindergarten teachers. There were so many great days of teaching and learning. I wanted to share those experiences with the world.

Qn 7: You’ve written a number of books now, which is your favorite, and which was the most exciting to write?

December Celebrations is my favourite. It is truly a holiday classic. It brings together the three major holidays of December in one classroom. It shows the positive learning environment of Mr Shipman’s class.

The most exciting story hasn’t been published yet. It will be out in February. The Adventures of Mahalia and Malcolm were written by my wife and me.

Qn 8: When writing for younger audiences, the feedback they share is often delightful but sometimes very to the point. Can you tell us some of the feedback you have received from your young readers?

Young readers have told me how they wish they were in my class. They ask all the time do you still teach kindergarten? Can I be in your class?

Qn 9: What do you plan to work on next, do you have more book ideas?

As far as the Kindergarten Chronicles, the next book centres around numbers. I have about four to five stories ready to go. My wife and I have a new series coming out in February. The Adventures of Mahalia and Malcolm. We are very excited and have been working very hard to rock the world.

Qn 10: Last question, so I have to leave this open to you. What final message would you like to share with those who visit this page?

Take the time to not only read my article but read everyone’s. Give some feedback and let us know what you think. We all would love to hear from you.
