About Before the Origin

Before the Origin

Before the Origin: Much has changed. Climate change has inspired a new generation of discrimination – one where the mutation of a hereditary gene has become the greatest crime. The others – a minority kept silent for years are now up to something sinister.

Agent Amy Taff has moved through the world unnoticed until the recent disturbances in an otherwise perfect utopia require her expertise. Desperate to make her mark, Amy is hurled into a world of mystery and magic, deeply rooted in ancient African folklore. Discoveries that threaten her life and could not only change her reality but hold far-reaching implications for everyone on the face of a lone continent. Follow her into an epic tale that begins with accepting a new job at Scythe. Where it ends could swing the scales of balance toward life or death.

Qn 1: Can you tell us more about Before the Origin, What is it about?

Its about myths and magic and legends. It’s a speculative fiction book about a world changed by global warming.
Coastal parts of Africa have been washed away by the south Atlantic ocean and the Mediterranean sea. The motherland is now divided into two liveable habitats: The Capital, a military-ruled state on the East and to the west, surrounded by the encroaching Sahara desert, is a fortified fortress called the farms – which is really a prison.
Discrimination is no longer based on sex, gender, or colour, in this world, the greatest crime is being the carrier of a hereditary gene.
Our main protagonist is AMY TAFF, an agent who works for the Capital, despite her accolades and recognition, feels like an undeserving fraud. On her first day at work, she is drafted to go into the maze-like facility holding prisoners of The Uprising of Death – A widespread riot against science that left many dead and prisoners rounded up to the farms AND EVERYTHING CHANGES!

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?

It is a fast-paced book so really anyone could read it. Lovers of magic systems, mythology, and urban fantasy will find it new and appealing.

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

All the Harry Potter books.
I read them at such a formative age and I was introduced to a whole world that I just wanted to be a part of, and it opened my eyes to the possibilities of writing something that’s bigger than you.
