BlackWash: The Untold Stories of Reverse Racism by Rodney Cloud Hill

BlackWash: The Untold Stories of Reverse Racism places you in an alternate reality where Africans/Blacks are in a superior position of power to Europeans/Whites. However, it only uses factual events from history and contemporary society (reversed) to tell that story. It is a satirical narrative of what racism would be like if Africans were the colonizers of Europe and created a nation named “Shamerika” from slave labour. There are over 200 References and an Index in the back of the book with the fictional words from the text, corresponding with the factual words.

Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book, BlackWash: The Untold Stories of Reverse Racism by Rodney Cloud Hill, What is it about?

It is a psychological norm for individuals to not empathize with issues that do not affect them. History is often written by those who win in battle or conquer the minds of a population. America and much of this world have had a one-sided telling of history that is perpetuated into society. The victims of this perspective have been the descendants of Africa and other indigenous people around the world. We do not know how the Continent would have been if not interfered with. However, what if a new paradigm was created where Africa and its nations maintain a global superiority on this Earth?

BlackWash: The Untold Stories of Reverse Racism produces this narrative using factual events of the past and present. It is a fictional twist on nonfiction that the world needs to heal. This novel aims to produce a mental shift within its readers while alleviating systemic racism and oppression, without experiencing the same trauma lived by the subjugated. “My brothers and sisters do not be blind to the distractions in life, for which we are all connected”

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, BlackWash: The Untold Stories of Reverse Racism by Rodney Cloud Hill, is it directed at any particular market?

My novel is aimed towards an audience who enjoys thought-provoking books. It is scholarly written and directed to those who want to be educated on historic events and societal issues. People who enjoy satire about reality will also be entertained. The age range is 12+ and should be read by all Genders and Races.

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

The Kybalion By The Three Initiates, this book changed my life by opening my mind to conscious concepts and how the Universe works mentally

The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference by Malcolm Gladwell, this book helped me realize you can achieve anything through research, consistency, and determination.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, this book taught me to always pursue my goals and dreams.

Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?

Do proper research, editing, and analysis before producing your book for the world. Make sure you are reading and keeping your creative juices flowing because you never know what may spark an idea. Build your vocabulary by reading the dictionary. Never give up.

Qn 5: Where can our readers find out more about you, do you have a website, or a way to be contacted?

Qn 6: BlackWash: The Untold Stories of Reverse Racism, tells a fictional tale about Africa being a super power in an alternate realtity, can you give us an idea of what this would be like?

The book only uses historical and contemporary facts (reversed) therefore Africans colonized Europe roughly 500 years ago. Picture Nigerian, Congolese, and Ghanaian explorers “discovering” Europe. Through that discovery, they created European chattel slavery and shipped Whites to other African countries. Simultaneously, they established the racist ideology that Africans are superior genetically, mentally, and physically to Europeans and perpetuated this into their educational system, as well as society. In “Shamerika” the slave plantations have traditional African last names like Ode’, Igbo, Ogun, Adebayo, Kwami, Xhosa, etc., so now Whites have African names, instead of Smith, Adams, Hill, Madison, etc. Whites are institutionalized into African society and lose their culture, belief systems, and practices. Over 200 stories such as Harriet Tubman, Nat Turner, The German Coast Uprisings, Hitler and World War II, Black Wall Street, Emmett Till, Sarah Baartman, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, The Black Panthers, Margaret Sanger, Trayvon Martin, Dylan Roof, are in the book just with the characters’ races being reversed.

Qn 7: There is an important message that you aim to share through BlackWash: The Untold Stories of Reverse Racism. Can you share the main points?

I believe its common for humans to not care about issues that don’t affect them, so my goal with writing the book was, if I change the narrative of who is being oppressed throughout history then maybe people will be willing to learn what are the root causes of America’s race issues, understand how they affect today, and gain more empathy and sympathy for Black people worldwide.

Qn 8: Thinking about recent events how would or could the world become a better place?

If people placed more value in human life and learned how to love one another despite our minor differences.

Qn 9: Do you plan a sequel to BlackWash: The Untold Stories of Reverse Racism?

As of now, I do not plan on writing another novel, however, I would like to turn this into a web series or movie production.

Qn 10: What is next for you do you have any plans?

With COVID restrictions being relieved, I plan on doing more book tours and appearances at festivals/events. I have already spoken on many podcasts and radio shows about the novel. I want to speak at schools and colleges, hoping that one day it can be used as a curriculum for a thought-provoking narrative swap.
