About Finding a Space in Life
Finding a Space in Life is a book about a young woman’s journey of looking at her family history after a suggestion from a mentor. There is an ah-ha moment that happened for the author and a concept/model was created called Healthy By Design (HBD). This model is a practical tool that the author began using to connect the unknown spaces from her past to create a deliberate healthier future. This book isn’t about theory without practice. There is work that must be done in order to live a life that is intentional, deliberate, and healthy. The hope is that readers will be able to take-a-way life design or re-design tools and strategies to create their own HBD story.

Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?
It is about learning more about my family history looking at it from the lens of finding clues that could help make better life decisions. I offer questions at the end of each chapter in the first section for readers to answer for themselves. Ultimately, the book is sharing a journey of how I am finding my space and voice in life.
Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?
For anyone who hasn’t connected their past with the present day to provide a map or strategy for a better future, this book would be beneficial. This isn’t a magical formula and it isn’t for the faint of heart. For the person who is done with excuses and willing to put in the work to achieve a different outcome—this is for them. It is directed to people who have been in the Christian faith and may have been jaded by religious activity. African-American individuals and families in the Christian faith are also an ideal market. This isn’t limited to Black Americans, I speak from a personal perspective and I did not want to muzzle the topic of race. This is a factor for me that I chose not to ignore. My friends from different races have read the book and have enjoyed reading it. It has caused a different dialogue within our friendship and connection.
Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?
Dr. John C Maxwell – because of his ability to write about leadership
Priscilla Shirer – her engaging way of sharing about the bible and using practical real-life experiences to help readers implement into life.
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth – she has a life story that is counter-culture and she continues to be brave and be the person she was destined to be
Dr. Tony Evans – he is a leader, father, pastor, and a man of faith who has weathered life and still has faith in Christ
Geri and Peter Scazzero – their life experience of stopping to adjust and relearn a better way—a healthier way of living has been a much-needed example for me to see
Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?
Seek out helpful wherever you need it. Writing is by about being perfect. It is about expression and storytelling. Be open to have feedback and a trusted person or team come alongside you for your journey.
Qn 5: Where can our readers find out more about you, do you have a website, or a way to be contacted?
You can leave me a comment on this page anytime!
