Awakening by Alan Lawson

I blink an eye, to wake to day,
As visions from a slumber,
Merge, dance, then fade away.

The fast approach of a familiar light
A beacon, a burning torch,
The signal of a winning fight.

The beast of dreams has lost his hold
He grasps and clutches,
His loss. His precious mould.

Awake, alive, clearing sight,
I’m free from demons,
Now, for a while, until tonight.
