About the Book
★ Immerse your little one into the paws of a furry little cat, who happens to live in one of the most colorful and diverse cities in the world. ★
If the first city that came to your mind after reading the title was New York, you were right. Every person who lives or has ever lived in the Big Apple knows that it has one of the most vibrant and diverse communities out there. This fun and entertaining children’s book shows the evolving and emergent nature of a NYC neighborhood, where many different languages are spoken and people from different backgrounds meet and live together.
Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?
The book is about an NYC bodega cat and the daily encounters with different people. Bodega cats are staples in New York City culture. This story was inspired by a real-life bodega cat that I would see every morning at the local convenience store.
Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?
I would hope everyone. But particularly New Yorkers, Cat lovers, people who love multi-cultural books, people who love inclusive books.
Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?
There are so many favorites. Gosh. If I had to choose only one I would say Are you there God? It’s me, Margaret. By Judy Blume. I just remember reading that book with my grandmother, who had read the same copy of the book with my aunt when she was young. So that book has a sentimental meaning.
Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?
Just keep writing. Find a way to make it work. Get creative. It doesn’t have to make sense at first, eventually, it will come together and you can go back and reorganize the pieces…but just get the thoughts out of your head and put it to paper. You’ll feel so much better.
Qn 5: Where can our readers find out more about you, do you have a website, or a way to be contacted?
