For over 400 long, hard, challenging years the Angry White Male has attempted to control the fate of the Black Man. He has in mind, and has planned and outlined the destiny of the Black Man. He took him from his natural environment and placed him in one that is hostile and cares nothing about him but to have him under perpetual subservience…
It has taken years of manipulation, sacrifices and time spent to have it that way, and not expecting any meaningful resistance or opposition to his program, he is caught off guard when I begin to exercise my expostulation and letting him know I was no longer a pawn on his chessboard of tractability. I am my own man. I am a Black Man. I come from a long line of creators, inventors, a bloodline of archetypes; engineers, scientists, literary scholars, mathematicians…
Your anger will not deter me. Your acts of barbarisms will not humble me. Your wealth cannot indulge me because I own more than a herd of cattle on a thousand hills. The gold you think you have hoarded is mine to inherit.
You will be only here for a short time. Your span of rule is at an end… And mine is on the horizon. You can hear the drums beat, you can hear the timbrels sound, you can hear the blasts of the trumpets. It is the announcement of the arrival of the Black Man, and he is entirely pissed off with you…
You can sit and squirm, you can scream, you can change laws to your favor, you can elect whomever you want to sit at the head of your table, but I will not be there. I will not be listening to your advises, I will not be obeying your laws, rule nor regulations…
You can be as Angry as you wish. Your anger is only the medium of your downfall.
One day you will look around and will not see many of those you thought were on your side. Even your own sons and daughters will reject you. You have disgraced their name. You have contaminated their morality and have chosen to serve other gods.
You will stand alone in your Anger!
Mr. Angry White Male, you are pushing too hard, and that does not look too well in your favor.
About the Author
Horatio M Bennett is a native of Jamaica.
Presently residing in Michigan, he was honoured by several Governors of Michigan; sitting on the Board of Cultural Diversity, and receiving the Spirit of Detroit Award. He created the first Detroit Carnival in 1971 and served for 12 years with NPR as a broadcaster, and worked with several Detroit radio stations: (WDET-FM, WIID-AM, WCAR-AM, WGPR-AM, WQBH-AM).
Horatio published the SourceNEWS for 18 years with his late wife, Natasha. They formed the Horatio and Natasha Bennett Foundation and were given the Civic Service Award for Community Service in 2019. In 2020, both the Bennett were listed in the prestigious “Who’ Who in Black Detroit.”
Horatio and Natasha have written 5 books, including the documentation of their experiences with Cancer and the West Nile Virus; both of which Horatio is a survivor. Natasha passed in 2020 after a year-long bout with Liver Cancer, just a week before being honoured by “Who’ Who in Black Detroit.”
Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?
For generations People of Color has being victimized by a segment of America’s white people, and although they represent a small percentage of the general white population; only about 5%, it is enough to make life miserable for the Black Man…
Among many other faults, the hate and uncontrolled anger of the white man has caused People of Color to be disenfranchised in a country in which they have contributed so much…
This book is an indictment that you can push so hard, only for so long, before your adversaries will begin to push back…
In his anger, the white male has now caused a pissed-off Black Man to ‘stand his ground!’
And that will not work too well in no one’s favor.
Suddenly, ‘Black Lives Matter’ has taken on an entirely different meaning!
Being angry is means you are not in control.
Being pissed off tells you I can take only so much of your bullshit!
Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?
While this book or no other instrument can accurately be all things to all people, The Angry White Male is a general consensus on the sentiments of a people who have suffered, unabated for many generations in the past, with not many prospects for a better future.
Global protests are beginning to gain momentum, so the struggles of any segment of a people, or nation, now become a humanity interest. There are ‘angry white male’ syndromes in almost every society, so the book can relate to basically any people experiencing any forms of oppression.
Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?
The shaping of my commitment to the struggles of humanity dates back to the early works of the Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey. All of Mr Garvey’s literature, few of which are even available today to pursuers of relative information, are the basic foundation of my thrust for rights and justice.
The Holy Bible provides a moral foundation upon which I can exercise required patience, empathy and forgiveness, without having to entertain impulses of physical retaliation…
Dr Claude Anderson, Richard Wright, Langston Hughes, Alex Haley, James Baldwin and Armin Baraka are just a few of the literary giants whose works have motivated me. Right alongside Mr Garvey, I grasped the emotions of Mr Armin Baraka as closest to the heights of which I aspire…
Oratory works of such illustrious leaders as the Honorable Reverend Louis Farrakhan, Reverend Jesse Jackson and Reverend Al Sharpton have contributed much to my education in the struggles of human reactions to oppression…
Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?
There are many phases of writing, or the motivation to writing, two of being the need to be heard and to tell a good story. When one considers the medium of expression through writing it is important that the realization that such a medium can also be the source of educating the mass. Let your concerns be of value to your reader by understanding the needs of others, and if your expression is of benefit to any other than yourself.
If you have a good story to tell, possibly a work of fiction, the ability to incorporate facts with fiction will make your work more appealing and relatable to your readers… That is, your fictitious story should have a factual base, such as the name of a known place or thing. This will enhance readers interests…
