About the Book
Flavors of Deceit (Love, Life and Lies). Formally known as “Flavors of Deceit” this memoir has received a much-needed facelift, tummy tuck and a few pounds of flesh. Now titled Disingenuous Love, the story will fill in the blanks where readers were left lost and give you the details you asked for in the reviews of the original title.
Disingenuous love is the revised story of Nyka. We dive deep into the romantic history and the trials that shaped the women you know today. Behind the smile is a story not so foreign to those who grew up in Miami. Nyka is the product of family secrets, generational curses and a mixture of bad decisions as she tried to navigate through her teenage years and into adulthood. She fought a constant battle of yin and yang idolizing performers like “Freaky Red, Tip Drill now known as Miami Tip, and Trina while also spending her days emulating Betty Wright, Ann Nesby, Rebecca “Butterfly” Vaugh and Yolanda Adams.
