Guardians Of Glyndor

The Disappearing Creatures (Second Edition): Magical School Adventure with Romance and Mystery

About the Book

This fresh fantasy series-launching debut is perfect for readers who love coming-of-age magical school adventures, sprinkled with romance and mystery.

Sixteen-year-old Jesse is always counting—the forty-two tiles in his café, the 37.8% chance of rain on Thursdays, and the stubborn minutes that keep him stuck behind the counter. It’s how he makes sense of a world that’s never quite made sense of him. Halfway across the globe, Emily feels too much, drowning in emotions that don’t belong to her, in a world that always asks her to be less.

Their lives change when a mysterious green-haired woman appears with an invitation to Glyndor, a prestigious school hidden in Eldora—the First Earth. In this world, magic is deeply personal. Jesse and Emily train alongside students from all over Earth, where quirks, traits, and personalities shape the magic they wield.

But Eldora is dying. Its magic is fading. The wealthy hoard what remains, while the Blanched are left powerless. As the Three Moons align, Eldora’s guardians start to disappear. Strange creatures emerge. Whispers of an ancient darkness grow louder. And amid it all, Jesse and Emily find themselves drawn together by something neither of them can ignore.

In this coming-of-age tale of magic, love and friendship, Jesse and Emily must decide who they are and what they stand for—before all they hold dear is lost.

The 2025 Second Edition brings a significant update, with new chapters, expanded scenes, refined storytelling throughout, and brand-new illustrations and cover art.

About the Author

I write under the pen name Nicoleclaire, telling stories from Singapore while juggling a day job in advertising. This book took shape over two years in the quiet hours of the night, when the world slept and anything felt possible.

Why do I write? Because every book that changed my life began with someone brave enough to tell their story. Stories have been my guide, my inspiration, and my courage—I can only hope mine offers the same to someone else one day.

Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?

At its heart, it’s about two teens—Jesse, who processes the world through numbers and patterns, and Emily, who experiences emotions with extraordinary depth. They discover they’re not broken, just different in a way our world doesn’t always recognise.

The story takes them to Eldora, a hidden dimension, where they train alongside fellow students from Earth, where quirks, traits, and personalities shape the magic they wield.

But Guardians of Glyndor isn’t just a magical escape. The story tackles themes of belonging, identity, and finding yourself in systems that weren’t built for you. It’s about the courage to question traditions and the strength to forge your own path.

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?

It’s great for readers who enjoy tropes like found family, magic schools and portal fantasy. It’s somewhere between YA and middle-grade, with enough emotional depth and complexity to engage older teens and adults, while maintaining a sense of wonder and adventure that younger readers will connect with.

There’s romance, but it is clean and wholesome, and it grows organically from friendship and mutual understanding rather than instant attraction.

At its core, this book is for anyone who’s ever wondered if they belong somewhere in this universe—and I think that’s most of us at some point in our lives.

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter had a profound influence on me. No other book series has matched its sheer depth of world-building and imagination.

S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders holds a special place in my heart for its raw, unflinching emotional honesty.

And Roald Dahl for his willingness to lean into the dark, the strange, and the wonderful—without ever talking down to young readers—is something I’ve always admired and strive to emulate in my own writing.

Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?

Create the story you want to read. The world needs your stories, told in ways only you can tell them.

Read widely, both within and outside your genre. My world-building drew from mythology across cultures, scientific theories, and observations of human nature. The more diverse your reading, the richer your creative well becomes.

Qn 5: Where can our readers find out more about you, do you have a website, or a way to be contacted?

You can follow me on Instagram @nicoleclairewrites, where I share exclusive content about “Guardians of Glyndor”—from the soundtrack I created for the book to untold backstories of characters and sneak peeks of what’s coming next in the series.

You can also visit guardiansofglyndor.com for more information about the book, and updates on the audiobook I’m hoping to release soon.

The sequel to Guardians of Glyndor is already in the works, and I’m looking for beta readers who want to experience it before publication. If you’re interested, drop me a message on Instagram. 🙂
