Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?
My book is about inspirational and motivational poetry. It is positive and uplifting poetry that encourages you to believe in yourself, to never give up, to focus on the positive rather than the negative, and to find hope in every situation that confronts you. My poems are thought-provoking; they make you think and feel. My poetry gives a new perspective on life and opens your heart to things you may have forgotten. Additionally, my poems convey messages about love, hope, faith, courage, forgiveness, and pursuing your dream. “Rivers of Life, A Book of Inspirational Poetry” can be read and enjoyed by entire families.
Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?
Poetry lovers will most definitely be interested in my book. Anyone seeking encouragement and inspiration will be inspired when s/he read my book. My poetry promotes positive messages. It was written with families in mind so they can spend quality time together reading poems of encouragement that will lead to stimulating family discussions. My poetry is directed to individuals who can and will relate to my topics and not take anything and anyone for granted.
Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?
I do not have a favorite author or book as I read different genres for several reasons. For example, I purposely read books that offer advice on IRA, investments, how to create and accomplish goals, and self-help. I also love reading books on academia, action and adventure, detective and mystery, romance, entertainment, fiction, non-fiction, and the classics.
And of course, I love reading the Bible because it gives me spiritual guidance that motivates me to be a better person. The Bible comforts me, strengthens my faith, and helps me successfully cope with problems in life. It also makes me a wiser person, teaches me about my purpose in life, and it helps me to understand others. Most importantly, the Bible teaches love and forgiveness.
Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?
I would suggest to all new aspiring writers to create a schedule and to write daily, preferably at the same time each day. I would also suggest that future writers read the work of a variety of authors from different genres. A proven strategy is the more you read, the more proficient you become as a writer. Avid readers develop an amazing vocabulary and will develop their own unique writing style. Writers can also join writing groups and take writing classes that will further enhance their writing skills.
