Tangled in Tulips

About the Book

February 9th, they meet.
June 21, he finally got the girl (took him a while).

He started putting his feelings into poems, capturing what it was like to fall in love for the first time. His collection became a reflection of that first year together, full of all the moments that made them, well, them. The excitement of new love, the awkwardness of getting to know each other, and even some bumps along the way.

His poems aren’t perfect, but they are real. They tell the story of two people figuring it out as they go along, sometimes stumbling, sometimes soaring, but always moving forward. Their love was, and still is, messy and beautiful all at once.

About the Author

I am a regular person who discovered poetry as a place of peace and a way to unleash creativity. Though I have many hobbies, there is still a lingering uncertainty about which path to pursue, but poetry remains a constant guide through that uncertainty. Through writing, I can express thoughts and emotions that often go unspoken, with the goal of creating something that will be an everlasting memory of me.

Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?

Tangled in Tulips is a collection of love poems that I wrote over the course of my first year relationship with my girlfriend. The collection captures all the beautiful moments shared between us, along with the complexities a relationship naturally brings. These poems aren’t perfect, but they reflect my feelings in the most honest way. Instead of speaking them aloud or trying to explain, I simply wrote.

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?

This book is for anyone who has felt the rush of love and the confusion that often comes with it. It’s for those who have shared fleeting moments of joy, laughter, and intimacy but also grappled with the complexities that relationships can bring. I wrote these poems to capture the essence of my own experiences, the beauty and the messiness of it all. I hope readers can see a bit of their own journey reflected in these pages, whether they’re just starting out in love or looking back on what it meant to them.

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

Atticus is my favorite author because he has a deep understanding of what it means to be human. His writing, especially in “LVOE” captures the complexities of love and life in a way that feels real and relatable. I love how his poems are genuine, and that they reminds usthat it’s okay to be vulnerable.

If we’re talking about authors from the past, my favorites would definitely be Pablo Neruda, Lord Byron, and Frank O’Hara.

I can’t pinpoint specific books because there are just too many that have influenced me, but their poetry captures deep emotions and vivid imagery, inspiring me to explore my own feelings and experiences in my writing.

Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?

If I were to offer guidance to new writers or those looking to enhance their writing, I would say: Don’t overthink it. Forget the rules, the expectations, and the judgments. When you feel something, just write. Allow yourself to just focus on your thoughts and emotions without any distractions. In doing so, you’ll create your own space where the inspiration will flow freely, and your unique style will appear. YOUR words have the power to you build a genuine world where art will feel true to you.

Qn 5: Where can our readers find out more about you, do you have a website, or a way to be contacted?

I don’t have a website, but you can reach me via email at hmurgic0802@gmail.com
