I’ve always been drawn to authors who write from the heart—those who understand that love stories are not just about attraction, but about connection, sacrifice, and the invisible threads that bind two souls together. Among them, Nicholas Sparks stands at the top of my list. His novels—The Notebook, Dear John, Message in a Bottle—capture the kind of emotion that lingers long after the final page. He writes of love that is tested by time, separation, and circumstance, yet somehow survives with dignity and grace. That balance of beauty and heartbreak is something I deeply admire and strive to reflect in The Last Whisper.

I also have tremendous respect for Jojo Moyes, whose storytelling in Me Before You reveals how love can transform even the most guarded hearts. Her ability to blend laughter, longing, and loss into a single narrative thread reminds me that the best romances aren’t perfect—they’re real. She understands that love’s truest power lies in its ability to change us.

Kristin Hannah is another inspiration. Writing is both an art and an act of courage. My greatest advice to anyone beginning their journey—or striving to grow—is this: write from your heart, not from the market. Trends fade, genres shift, but honesty in storytelling never goes out of style. The stories that move readers the deepest are the ones that come from truth—your truth.

When I wrote The Last Whisper, I didn’t think about formulas or what would sell. I thought about how love feels when it hurts, how silence sounds when someone you care for is miles away, and how the smallest gesture—a glance, a touch, a whisper—can carry an entire universe of emotion. That’s where good writing begins: in feeling something so strongly you have no choice but to put it into words.

To new writers, I’d say: fall in love with your characters. Let them live and breathe in your mind until their voices guide your hand. Don’t rush the process. Great writing often comes from stillness, from listening to what your story wants to say rather than forcing it to speak.

Qn 7: What was the most challenging section to write in The Last Whisper, and what was the most rewarding?

The most challenging part was capturing the emotional vulnerability of the main characters without making their pain overwhelming. I wanted readers to feel their heartbreak but also to believe in their strength — to see how love could rebuild what life had broken.

Qn 8: What is your elevator pitch to sell your book in a few lines?

Qn 9: We have to ask… any elements of truth in your story from your past in the U.S. Air Force?

There are certainly shades of truth woven into the story. While the plot itself is fictional, many of the emotions — the separations, the longing, the uncertainty — were inspired by real experiences and people I encountered during my years of service. The Air Force teaches resilience, loyalty, and sacrifice, and those qualities naturally found their way into the characters and relationships in The Last Whisper. It’s fiction with a heartbeat that feels real.

Qn 10: What will you be working on next?

I’m already outlining my next romance novel — one that explores love after loss and the courage it takes to open your heart again. It will carry the same emotional depth as The Last Whisper, but with a new setting and characters facing different challenges.
