Double Jeopardy

About the Book

A body is found in the nave of Leicester Cathedral. For Detective Sergeant Lounds, the case begins as a single murder and rapidly spirals into something far more sinister.

The dead man is an identical twin. His brother has vanished. As the investigation unfolds, a web of fraud, secret affairs, and corruption tightens around a growing list of suspects, each with something to hide.

When a key suspect is suddenly found dead in suspicious circumstances, the investigation takes a dangerous turn and the focus shifts closer to the team. Trust fractures. Fear spreads. And the killer’s reach feels uncomfortably near.

At the same time, DS Lounds is being watched. A stalker from her past has resurfaced, testing her resolve and threatening to dismantle the careful control she keeps over her life and her work. With pressure building on all sides, she is running out of places to hide.

Two brothers. Two deaths. A detective with everything to lose. When the past and the present collide, how far will the killer go to keep the truth buried?

About the Author

I have lived and worked in Leicestershire all my life and I am setting my books in Leicestershire as it helps me with writing realistic books. Outside of work and writing, I enjoy live music, comedy gigs, socialising with friends, animal care, travel and reading. I like to read true crime as well as fictional crime books. I also enjoy biographies.

Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?

The book is my first in a series which will feature DS Lounds and her investigation team. The book is set in Leicestershire, where I live. DS Lounds is new to Leicestershire and this is her first investigation with the team. She has an Inspector who is very sceptical about her leadership ability, being a female and one of her colleagues appears to be trying to interfere with the investigation. The witness who identifes the deceased seems to be deliberately trying to put police off track – but why?

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?

I have worked in the criminal justice system all my life. I have worked in the courts, police and for solicitors offices. I love reading in this genre and this is the genre I have chosen to write in. I think my book will interest those who are interested in relastic police procedure, crime mystery, Detective series’ and books with clues and twists to work their way through.

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

My favourite authors are ones who work in the genre that I enjoy the most. I really enjoy reading the Kate Ellis Wesley Patterson books, the Leigh Russells Geraldine Steele books and Angela Marsons Kim Stone books.

Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?

This is my first go at writing a novel, I am only learning myself. The second in the series which I am a good way through I have been able to enhance from my experience and learning with the first.
