About the Book
Every heart has something to forgive. Whether it’s a minor offense that left a sting or a betrayal that cut deep, forgiveness is a universal journey. For me, it became a defining path after a personal experience that shook me to the core. Inspired by my own healing, Something to Forgive explores the “why” behind forgiveness and help others break free from the chains of bitterness and resentment.
The book began as a heartfelt letter to a friend struggling with unforgiveness, but as I wrote, it evolved into something much more. I realized that many of us carry hidden wounds, often unaware of how they shape our thoughts, emotions, and even our physical health. Drawing on neuroscience, physiology, and real-life stories, I sought to illuminate the unseen bonds that keep us trapped in cycles of pain, preventing us from living the abundant life God intends.
Forgiveness isn’t merely a suggestion—it’s essential for healing. Through personal reflections, Scripture, and the profound teachings of Jesus in the Lord’s Prayer, I unpack how forgiveness unlocks true freedom. This book reveals the toll unforgiveness takes on your overall well-being, supported by both scientific studies and spiritual truths. But, more importantly, it offers a way forward, including:
• Eye-opening insights into how bitterness affects your physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
• Inspiring stories of redemption from Scripture and modern life that show the transformative power of forgiveness.
• Practical tools and exercises to guide you through the forgiveness process, no matter where you are on the journey.
• Wisdom on guarding your heart while staying open to love and trust.
At its core, this book is about freedom—freedom from pain, lies, and anything that holds you back from the life God has for you. Forgiveness isn’t about excusing someone’s behavior or dismissing the hurt; it’s about breaking the chains that tie you to the past. It’s about reclaiming your peace, joy, and purpose.
For me, the path of forgiveness was one of the hardest yet most rewarding journeys I’ve ever walked. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth every step. My hope is that this book inspires you to begin your own healing journey, equipped with truth and practical tools to guide you along the way.
About the Author
Hi, I’m Kathleen Johnson, but many people know me as Scripture Girl. I’m a Christian author, speaker, and teacher with a heart for helping others experience the transformative power of God’s Word. You see, I haven’t always been the person I am today. Life has handed me my fair share of challenges—losses, betrayals, and struggles that left me feeling broken. But in my darkest moments, God met me where I was, and His promises became my refuge and strength. I learned to cling to Scripture, not just as words on a page, but as a living, breathing source of hope and healing.
There’s something incredible about having God’s Word rooted deep in your heart—it changes the way you face life’s battles. Through fasting, prayer, meditation, and immersing myself in Scripture, I’ve experienced miraculous answers, freedom from patterns that once held me captive, and healing in areas I thought were beyond repair. That’s why I’m so passionate about sharing these tools with others. I firmly believe God’s Word equips us to live boldly and victoriously, no matter what challenges we face.
My mission is simple yet profound: to empower others to rise up and walk in their God-given authority. I want to help people break free from fear, doubt, and pain and step into the abundant life Christ has for them. Whether I’m writing, speaking, or teaching, my constant prayer is, “How can I help someone take one step closer to living in the freedom and fullness God desires for them?”
I never set out to become a writer, but God had other plans. My journey as an author began unexpectedly, and now, I’m stepping into this season with excitement and purpose. Something to Forgive is just the beginning, and I’m thrilled to share that I have more books on the way—one about Divine Healing and another on the incredible power of meditation. Writing feels like a natural extension of the calling God placed on my life: to share what He’s done for me and remind others that they’re not alone on their journey.
Today, I’m based in Franklin, Tennessee, where I live with my amazing husband, Paul. I’m a proud mom to two beautiful daughters and two incredible stepsons. My family is my greatest blessing, and I’m so thankful for their love and support. When I’m not writing or speaking, you’ll likely find me soaking in the simple joys of life—reading, playing the piano, painting, spending quality time with family and friends, or just savoring the beauty of God’s creation.
