Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book, Spiral, What is it about?
Spiral is a suspense, mystery thriller that centres around a young girl and boy with paranormal abilities. Both are grandchildren of a powerful family in the small town of Greasy Plank. What they know helps to solve a kidnapping and murder mystery, events that also involve wealthy, powerful families. There are other characters in Spiral, but they’re what folks call “ghosts”.
Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, Spiral, is it directed at any particular market?
People who love a page-turning mystery, a story they won’t figure out until the last page, may love Spiral.
Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?
J. California Cooper, Walter Mosley, Joyce Carol Oates, Gloria Naylor and Judy Blume are among my favorite authors. My favorite short story, Sonny’s Blues, was written by James Baldwin. I appreciate an author’s writing style, love a poetic writing style. Also appreciate complex, well-developed characters. These authors have a sharp, skilled pen.
Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?
Read works of skilled authors who truly respect the craft. Write every day. Join professional writer critique groups and open up to receive honest, quality feedback. Keep writing. I believe that a good story will find its readers.
