About the Book
Badly treated by his father, Leonardo spends the evening hiding away only to find his entire family brutally murdered the next morning. That night, he had a dream about monsters, but it had only been a dream, right? Perhaps not, as his family is not dead, and Leonardo is thrust into work as a slave, living a life of solitude as he plots revenge.
Unbeknownst to young Leonardo, a dark and mysterious entity has been watching him carefully, waiting for the opportune moment to take him away from his life of abuse and mistreatment. Boris is a reckless, seductive vampire who sees great promise in Leonardo, so one night in the woods, he takes his life-but gives him another.
Boris teaches him the immortal ways through the Vampyr laws. However, as a newborn vampire Leonardo fights a battle between his mortal past and immortal future. He must choose to embrace the darkness or fight against those who came before, while seeking vengeance for his family’s massacre and even becoming a killer himself.
About the Author
Richard is a rising artist and writer, and his passion can only be described as an influential force. Striving to be an inspirational public figure, to help those who are also working to achieve their dreams, and to make sure to put God first in any goals and obstacles that come his way.
Richard was born in Monterrey, Mexico, but raised in Houston, Texas, and is currently living near Los Angeles in order to pursue his career in animation. He holds an MFA in Visual Development and a BFA in Media Arts and Animation.
As a part-time Actor. Richard has been involved in projects such as AMC’s “Queen of the South” season one, “Beyond the Red City” TV series, and a few others. As a designer, Richard has created numerous personal projects and has worked alongside many known clients throughout the years. He has recently worked with the talented and well-known Latin musician, Lupita Infante.
Richard has published his first book of The Ancient Chronicle: The Newborn and is working on an entire series for The Ancient Chronicle universe. Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?
Absolutely! My book is a classical vampire tale that tells the story of a young man named Leonardo in the late 1700s. Who is faced with so many hardships, and later gets turned into a vampire by a reckless and seductive vampire named, Boris. Given this new dark life, Leonardo is faced with the most difficult choices and faces off against his immortal future and his mortal past.
It’s an introductory book that sets the tone for my HUGE universe that I am currently developing and creating. With many more books, and short stories to come. With a massive timeline that stretches till BC till now. The Newborn is just a taste. The beginning.
Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?
Most likely to all of the readers who enjoy vampire novels, and fiction thrillers. Young adults to adults for sure. I’ve come to notice that many from the vampire community have been loving my book thus far. Also, anyone who loves the stories of Author Anne Rice would really find my series very fascinating. Since she was one of my top influences while writing my dark universe of “The Ancient Chronicles”. Thus some have said that is definitely making justice to the vampire genre. That it’s bringing back that true dark, and classical vampire essence which was lost in the past years.
Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?
I would say Authors JR Tolkien, and Anne Rice. They have both set very high standards within these two types of storytelling. Love the fantastic and unique worlds that Tolkien created. Makin a series of magical epic books that would always be remembered and cherish till today. Probably forever in fact. The same goes for Anne. She definitely has created a foundation for the vampire universe. She brought a realistic perspective on them, and that has fascinated me for all these years. They are both my two top favorite Authors of all time for sure.
Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?
To never give up. To keep writing. To always think outside of your comfort zone. Never limit your storytelling capabilities, because that is what makes us who we are. Creators, and inventors of different worlds. Also, to research and study their favorite genre in order to understand their own writing. Be consistent, and determined to finish your story. Above all else, have God in the center of it all. Ask Him to make you an instrument of His love, and peace in order for you to complete your works. There is simply no greater power than that. The power of prayer.
