About the Author

Seyed Mosayeb Alam, an accomplished strategic leader, leverages his profound insights into human behavior, decision-making, and introspection to craft his fictional works. Based in Singapore and Bangladesh, Seyed’s background as a Chief of Staff for a billion-dollar enterprise, alongside his engineering expertise, informs his writing with a nuanced perspective on the complex interplay of memory, identity, and ambition. His professional journey spans critical roles in strategic planning, market analysis, and organizational growth, which inspire the intricate, reflective themes woven into his storytelling.

Seyed is also a committed community leader, holding a prominent role as in JCI Bangladesh. His work with JCI, fostering growth among young professionals, complements the psychological and motivational depth in his books. These professional experiences resonate in his writing, providing a unique blend of strategic thinking and emotional introspection.

In his anthology series, Vivid Visions, Seyed explores life’s mysteries and emotional undercurrents through evocative stories that challenge readers to confront personal choices, haunting regrets, and the boundaries of reality. Known for blending speculative elements with real-world emotions, Seyed Alam’s work appeals to readers drawn to stories that are as thought-provoking as they are poignant.

Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?

My book, Vivid Visions, is a collection of short stories that delve into the complexities of the human mind and heart. It explores themes of memory, identity, loss, and redemption through characters who find themselves grappling with unsettling truths and mysterious forces. Each story unfolds in worlds where the boundaries between reality and imagination blur, revealing hidden fears, longings, and regrets.

For example, The Memory Auction follows Elara, who buys memories at an underground market, only to become obsessed with finding a child she encounters in one of these memories. Her journey raises questions about identity and the cost of longing for what may never have been real.

The stories are designed to challenge perceptions, leaving readers reflecting on their own choices and emotions. At its core, Vivid Visions is about confronting the shadows we carry and the unexpected ways they shape our lives.

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?

Vivid Visions appeals to readers who enjoy thought-provoking, emotionally resonant stories with elements of suspense, mystery, and psychological depth. It is ideal for fans of speculative fiction, contemporary fantasy, and psychological thrillers who appreciate narratives that explore the human condition through layered storytelling.

This book caters to readers who enjoy authors like Neil Gaiman, Shirley Jackson, and Ray Bradbury—writers known for blending the surreal with the real to examine identity, loss, and morality.

Its structure as a short story collection makes it suitable for busy readers looking for impactful, self-contained narratives they can finish in one sitting. It’s also likely to attract book clubs and literary discussion groups due to its open-ended themes and moral dilemmas.

The target audience includes young adults and adults (ages 18–45) who appreciate dark, atmospheric tales that linger in the mind long after reading. Fans of shows like Black Mirror or The Twilight Zone would also find this collection compelling.

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

I’ve always been drawn to authors who challenge conventional storytelling and delve into the complexities of human emotions and psychology. Some of my favorite authors include Neil Gaiman, Shirley Jackson, and Ray Bradbury for their ability to weave unsettling yet profound narratives that stay with readers long after the final page.

Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?

Write Consistently: Writing is a skill that improves with practice. Set aside dedicated time each day or week to write, even if it’s just a few sentences. Treat it like a habit rather than waiting for inspiration. Many great ideas emerge during the process, not before it begins.

Stay Curious and Observant: The best stories often arise from asking “what if” and exploring emotions or situations that intrigue you. Pay attention to people, conversations, and small details in everyday life—they can spark unique ideas. Read widely across genres to expand your perspectives and style.

Embrace Feedback and Revisions: Share your work early with trusted readers, writing groups, or mentors. Critique can be hard, but it’s essential for growth. Focus on the intent behind feedback, not just the words, and use it to refine your story’s structure and emotional depth.

Lastly, finish what you start. Many writers struggle with abandoning drafts. Push through doubts, complete your drafts, and trust the editing process to polish your work. Writing is less about perfection in the first draft and more about persistence and revision to create something impactful.
