Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?

This is the 5th book in The Inspiring Children’s Series. Bentley Hippo finally gets to fulfill his dream of going to the moon and his excitement is beyond words. At the gate, however, his friends are not allowed on the rocket because they are all different. From physical differences to emotional and psychological challenges, Bentley must decide between his dream and his friends.

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?

Originally the books were targeted for ages 6-10 however, the majority of the schools that purchased the books have done so for younger children ages 4 and up. Children look up to the main character Bentley as he represents, kindness, acceptance, and diversity. Bentley teaches children that just as they should not judge a book by its cover, they should not judge others from a first glance. I created my characters with challenges in hopes of normalizing them in the eyes of children.

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

With all the published books being introduced each day it is hard for me to pinpoint one. I enjoy books with a good strong message. Some of the authors that I admire include Dawn Doing, Lisa Jacovsky, Alan J Hesse, and Kevin Albin. Each of these authors offers books that are inspirational, educational, and are much needed to bring awareness to important topics.

Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?

Though it is easy to write about something that is currently trending, write about something you are passionate about. Set your mind on a goal or purpose and don’t get discouraged if others do not understand your vision. Write, write and continue writing. With 34 published books to date. I am able to pick up one of my earlier books and point out areas of improvement and that is because the more I write the better writer I become. Don’t give up.

Qn 5: Where can our readers find out more about you, do you have a website, or a way to be contacted?

My website is bentleythehippo.com which is where you can find info about Bentley and the other characters, the awards won, reviews as well as purchase books and other novelty items.
