About the Author
Jennie Lee Schade is an odd soul who believes in love and likes to use her stories as a sort of mirror to reality. Reverse the image, and make it feel real. Most of her stories are unlike anything else you’ll read…anywhere.
Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?
To the smallfolk of the world, humans are giants. Krystina, an eccentric photographer rescues a pixy and plunges into a miniature, medieval world where society’s roles have been reversed, love is everything and the crimes of a sad and terrifying ancient war are reaching out to crush the present.
Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?
I originally wrote The Pixy and the Giantess thinking of it as a book that would be read mostly by women. I freely admit I was wrong. While this is definitely for adults only, I have heard from a nearly equal number of women and men. This story has turned out to appeal to a number of different audiences. So now? I say it’s for anyone over the age of eighteen who wants to read a novel different from any they’ve read before.
Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?
You know my mind goes blank every time someone asks me that! Hmmm…I like Laurell K. Hamilton because I can always get lost in her books. Her characters are strong but flawed, have weaknesses, are sometimes terrified, but keep going.
Others I enjoy are Ursula K. Le Guin, Isaac Azimov, Kurt Vonnegut, Carl Sagan, and so many more!! Their works let me travel and dream across the Universe.
Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?
Write…and then go back.
What I mean here is, write it out, even if it seem plain, clunky or off. Do it. Once it is down, you can change it, add to it, etc. Great works are lost when we browbeat and argue with ourselves over infinitesimal details.
Get it written…you can fix it later.
Qn 5: Where can our readers find out more about you, do you have a website, or a way to be contacted?
Twitter is the site I check daily…and it is the best place to contact me: https://twitter.com/JennieLeeSchade
And while I am rarely there, I also have pages on FaceBook, Instagram and Tumblr.
