About The Tail of Timothy Tadpole
The Tail of Timothy Tadpole is a short children’s picture book about a normal tadpole named Timothy. But there is one small problem; Timothy is not growing up into a frog as quickly as the other tadpoles. When the other tadpoles start making fun of Timothy because of his long tail and lack of legs, Timothy is deeply upset. During their weekly swimming lessons at Miss Jazmine the frog’s house, Timothy, Susan (his best friend), and the rest of the tadpoles are attacked by a dangerous predator. The giant bird threatens the life of everyone at Miss Jazmines house. Timothy is able to quickly swim away because of his long tail, but the rest of the tadpoles struggle to move quickly because of their short legs and small tails. Josie, one of the tadpoles that was mocking Timothy earlier, is snatched up by the giant predator and is tossed into the air when she fails to escape quickly enough. She comes crashing back down into the water and Timothy fires through the water like a rocket ship and is able to push Josie to safety with the flick of his tail just in time. Timothy blacks out and wakes up later inside his log home surrounded by his friends and family. He is praised for being brave and saving the life of Josie thanks to his long tail and becomes the hero of the pond! This colorful picture book features beautiful illustrations that will open up the eyes and imagination of your child. It is best read to children between the ages of 3-9 years old, and makes a fantastic bedtime story.
About the Author
Jake Southard was born in Saint Joseph Missouri in 1991 and moved to Los Angeles California in 2015. He studied Video Production at Missouri Western State University and has a Bachelor’s in Video Production. He’s a Director of Photography in the world of cinema, and is the author of several Children’s books including “The Tail of Timothy Tapdole”, and “The Book of No Fun”, (coming soon).
Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?
“The Tail of Timothy Tadpole” is a short children’s picture book with a real-world lesson for kids; It is okay to be different than everyone else, and Timothy Tadpole learns this when a dangerous predator enters his local pond and threatens the life of his friends.
Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?
This book is meant for children ages 3-9 years old. It makes a great bedtime story.
Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?
For me it is a little different because I focus on children’s books. I don’t read children’s books myself anymore, but I remember growing up reading many of the Berenstain Bears and Stewart Little books. When I’m looking for a novel to read these days, I prefer Stephen King’s.
Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?
Use your imagination and write whatever comes to mind. Every person is unique and people love to view the world through the eyes of another.
