About the Book
As a psychology professor at a university in London, Bradley rarely sees an easy day. Especially since he can never tell the difference between the living and the dead. He has always been able to see lost souls, but only for a brief moment. Lately, those souls haven’t been disappearing as fast; it’s as if they now know he can see them.
Things gradually become unsettling as the unseen souls start to appear in his dreams and attempt to keep him there, even if it means they become violent.
Charlotte is a new professor with a dark secret and kind heart. Both she and Bradley must find a way to stop the dead from crossing over into the world of the living. But, are they willing to face their repressed memories in order to save their sanity?
All the while Simon, a clairvoyant who gets caught in a crossfire of hunger and greed due to his being possessed by Umbra, a dark entity, must try to resist succumbing to the shadow inside him before it consumes the souls of the living and the dead within him.
About the Author
My name is Myra, and I am the author of, ‘Patient S.’
I’ve been into writing for a long time and also really enjoy drawing, video games, and eating yummy food 🙂 🍰🍱
Whenever I read a book there are usually two things on my mind, ‘how do the characters relate to me?’ And, ‘I wonder what the other character thinks?’ At times, I would think there should be a book where we know how each character is reacting and that the characters don’t know how to handle a situation or their emotions. So, I wrote a book like that.
Why?
Because. Usually, every book I read I never see the characters thought process.
This is why, I believe, there is a better understanding of the story’s climax due to the story being seen through different characters’ perspectives. Not only through the eyes of the protagonists, but also through the eyes of the dynamic characters. Allowing readers to be fully immersed in the story.
I also have 3 pet birds. 😀
Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?
‘Patient S.’ is about Bradley Elm, a professor who has to show a new professor, Charlotte Rainer, the ropes of teaching. However, their relationship quickly goes far past colleagues as they try to find a way to stop a sinister force from spreading terror throughout the city.
Everything seems normal until Bradley starts to see more than he should. Things gradually become unsettling as the unseen souls start to appear in his dreams and attempt to keep him there, even if it means they become violent.
All the while, Simon Fisher, a clairvoyant from birth and one with a very high spiritual level, unconsciously ends up at the front steps of Dr. Albert Prescontt’s clinic.
Dr. Prescott is a profound physician and a great believer in the paranormal and sees through Simon’s façade and starts experimenting on him. In doing so, he unknowingly started to feed a sinister presence that had been with Prescott since the beginning.
Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?
The potential target audience for my book would be young adults who range from the ages 16 to 35. Have a liking for the paranormal, and enjoy connecting with characters on a personal level.
The story itself shows the characters’ development throughout the entire plot, and I wrote it in a way where I wanted people to connect to the characters on a deeper level, so they would be like, ‘Oh! I was thinking that too.’ or ‘Yea, I would have done the same thing.’
Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?
I love ‘Pride and Prejudice’ by Jane Austen because I just find it very endearing, I actually don’t know why. It just makes me happy.
I also love ‘Girl with all the gifts.’ by M.R. Carey because first, ZOMBIES. I love zombies. Secondly, because the writing style is absolutely amazing and it has a great plot.
Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?
Don’t give up.
It took me 4 years to get my book published. The first two years were spent on just writing my book.
The next two were on trying to get it published. And in those 2 years, I had gotten rejected over 200 times by literary agents and publishers. I almost threw all my hard work away and on that day I got a fortune cookie at dinner that said ‘Never give up until you reach the finish line.’ (It’s still taped to my laptop.)
I then stopped emailing agents and publishers, got my hustler pants on and created my own LLC, did the proofing, edits, designed my own book cover, and then self-published my book on Amazon. AndI’m so thankful that I did.
Qn 5: Where can our readers find out more about you, do you have a website, or a way to be contacted?
I do have an Instagram, (@booksbymyra). I usually like communicating with people through there.
