It isn’t until after she has her daughter that she experiences what so many women in this world go through….postpartum depression. While this can happen before and during pregnancy, it’s a topic that isn’t discussed enough in today’s world and Brenda shares her experience and how she got through it. Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book, A Woman’s Worth, What is it about?
My book focuses on one of many women’s social issues that go on in today’s world. This book is a fictional story of a character who is experiencing having her first child. After she has her first child, she starts experiencing post-partum depression. This is a topic that is discussed, but not enough and the goal is to shine light on this and to have more discussions about why women are experiencing it and how statistically 1 in 9 women will experience this either during pregnancy or after they have their child.
Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, A Woman’s Worth, is it directed at any particular market?
I think that young women between the ages of 25 and 45 would be interested in this topic and book.
Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?
I would say 1984 by George Orwell is one of my favorites (it contributed to me writing my book, “The World In Ruins.”, Brainwashed by Tom Burrell which helped me write some books on current issues in the world, All American by Julie Hythcott-Haims which is giving me ideas for a book series I plan on writing in 2024.
Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?
I would say write what you love, not what’s trending and popular. The market changes constantly and readers will know how passionate you are with what you write. Read books to help inspire you, and carve your own path, don’t follow what everyone else is doing. With writing, it’s always good to stand out from the crowd.
Qn 5: Where can our readers find out more about you, do you have a website, or a way to be contacted?
I have two websites:
Personal: https://www.aquarianmindwrites.com
Podcast Website: https://www.theaquarianmindpodcast.com
Qn6: What was the inspiration behind A Woman’s Worth?
The inspiration behind “A Woman’s Worth” was needing to write about women’s social issues that aren’t talked about and discussed enough in society. I have covered certain topics in other books but there weren’t stories that fully focused on important topics and that’s where it led to me creating this book series.
Qn 7: A Woman’s Worth covers Brenda’s story and particularly a focus on postpartum depression what would you say to those who are living with PPD?
I would say to find a professional that you can speak to regarding postpartum depression. It’s something that unfortunately happens to a lot of women during or after pregnancy.
Qn 8: What have you learned from writing about the topics you cover in your A Woman’s Worth series?
I’ve learned that the topics I’ve covered are only scratching the surface of what women face and deal with on a regular basis. There are so many other things but I wanted to write about topics that need more attention.
Qn 9: You have written a number of books now, which was the most challenging to write, and what was the most exciting?
The most challenging was writing “The World We Live In” series. That has 19 different characters and I wrote about so many different social issues. It took an emotional and mental toll to write that five-book series.
My most exciting I would say is the “Alphabet City” series which is 12 books. I’ve published seven to date with the other five coming the rest of this year. In each book, you meet a different character and their life story the way you do with the “A Woman’s Worth” series. Alphabet City focuses on the inner cities of America and all that goes on and how to make change.
Qn 10: What will you work on next?
I have written three of my four books for next year. I am currently deciding on what will be my fourth book for next year. I can’t share what it is yet but it will be worth the wait, it’s topics that affect us all daily though.
