Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?
The Bucket of Blood is a comedy horror that follow two freelance spies through their trials and tribulations as they try and navigate a dystopian Detroit ruled by one ruthless old lady named Granny Schmif. 1 part Soylent Green, 1 part Pineapple Express this book sets out to make you laugh with its vivid settings and quirky characters.
Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?
I’m a middle-aged father of 3 and can’t help but laugh at the ridiculousness that my children bring into my world. I’d like to think that this ridiculousness is translated into The Bucket of Blood and therefore the book is geared towards people like me. Hard-working, loving individuals who could use a laugh now and then from all the chaos constantly bombarding them. This book serves as a mental getaway for anyone looking to transport themselves into another f’d up world for a moment, but this time knowing they can laugh at the light-heartedness of it all.
Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?
I just read the book “We Are Legion (We are Bob)” by Dennis E. Taylor and I absolutely loved it. It was such a unique perspective on the future of humanity told through a funny lens. However, I have to say that my all-time favorite is the graphic novel Chew by John Layman. The art by Rob Guillory in this book is what drew me into graphic novels in the first place. I sincerely think the ideas behind the main character and the execution of the book are flawless. It’s visually appealing and the story itself is one to have you scratching your head and laughing at the same time.
Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?
write, write, write… Like every craft you need to practice it to perfect it. Everyone has their own style and perspective and I believe its always a work in progress to hone your own. Not only that, but you should be pushing yourself to grow as a creative person. Stretch your limits of what you are familiar and comfortable with.
