Killing For Lifetime by Tsuki Aoi #AuthorInterview

About the Book

Killing For Lifetime (hashtag #K4L) is a supernatural thriller set in Milan (Italy). Paul has to discover the truth about a decapitated corpse, which is discovered in the Central Station. On the man’s wrist, there are strange marks: these are the steps to be taken to achieve immortality. Paul still doesn’t know if there is a cult behind this perverse game, who the victim is, or who thought it up. All he knows is that the bodies are about to increase and that he will have to deal with a prosecutor who has no intention of being serious.

About the Author

Tsuki Aoi is a Reiwa-era writer. Her Chinese zodiac sign is the horse. Killing For Lifetime is the first time she has ventured into the thriller genre, but she would like to be a multi-genre author. So, that’s it. For her, writing is the soul that reveals itself.

Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?

Killing For Lifetime is a question: how far can a person go to get what he/she wants? In my novel, three characters have the chance to achieve immortality, but they must be willing to kill.

Throughout the story, who is the director of all will always be with them and some roles will be reversed. The decapitated corpse found at the Central Station in Milan (Italy) will be the trigger that will ignite the players’souls to search their victims.

Thus, those who were supposed to be investigating risk being trapped in the game.

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?

It would be too easy to say that this is a book for fans of the supernatural thriller or those who like Italian settings or about the Milanese metropolis. This book winks at the characters of the Japanese tradition, but also at the ways we use to be successful at any cost. Those who like to revisit or revise their lives by reading an original story cannot go wrong.

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

I still have a lot to read, but I like to think that those who wrote in the past is an ancestor of who write today (and I’m not just talking about me). Although it is true that a lifetime is not enough to read the best books in the world, it is also true that someone will always stay with you throughout your life.

Among them, Howard Lovecraft is the author who fascinates me the most, even though God had fun bringing him into existence more than 100 years ago.

Today, however, Literature is also expressed through other forms of communication, such as films, anime, and TV series. In this sense, I think Yuuichirou Higashide of Fate Grand Order is a shining example.

Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?

I do not have much experience to give advice, this is the first book I have published. I think that today’s writer has to be a complete person, who does not only look at rhetorical figures.

Everything around us has a meaning, so you have to know how to listen to this voice. What we read and what we see, what we listen to, love, hate, live has a meaning, which may elude us, but it makes us who we are.

Then, I think the ‘business’ side of it is also important. A book no longer leaves the author when it is finished. It has to be edited, corrected, promoted.

Qn 5: Where can our readers find out more about you, do you have a website, or a way to be contacted?

I haven’t a website, but I’m on social network. I have a Facebook page and an Instagram account @tsuki_aoi_. You can use my e-mail to contact me too.
