About the Author

Piers Furney is a Software Product Manager and aspiring author. He has always had a passion for reading and writing, with the genesis of Alkaline Dawn providing a well-needed escape during the writing of his Master’s Thesis in Psychology. A lover of rich and engaging worlds across video games, books, film, and TV, Piers lives with his partner in New Zealand.

Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?

Alkaline Dawn is a sci-fi thriller about one man’s quest for vengeance and the lengths he is driven to go to to protect the innocent. It’s also a redemption story and tale about the consequences of collective inaction.

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?

Fans of Sci-Fi, Thriller, and Adventure novels that are wanting an accessible and fast-paced story.

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

Michael Connelly – master of page-turning and realistic tales

Peter F Hamilton – Sci-fi god of detail and scale

Don DeLillo – great for layered odysseys full of human emotion

Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?

Focus on plot consistency and the quality/variation of your sentences. Also, you’ll end up needing more edits than you think.
