Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?
I wrote this book when I was 21 years old in 1998 and completed the entire series in three months. It started as a 40 page short story about Alicia Chay, a vampire forced into a life in the darkness against her will, but she winds up becoming The Queen of the Hounds, and overthrowing the Queen Mother, ruling for forty centuries as someone else, abandoning the Crown of the Hounds. Khovahsh, leader of the Dragonhead Ancients, not only has to keep her safe, but he’s in direct opposition of her reign. When her life hangs in the balance, he has to battle Muzzle, her nemesis, to save her life.
Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?
Anyone who is a lover of vampires, fantasy, action and the supernatural. It’s directed for adults 18 and over.
Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?
My favorite authors are Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou, Anne Rice, Sidney Sheldon, James Baldwin, Zora Neale Hurston, Jackie Collins, E. Lynn Harris, Sister Souljah, Ice Berg Slim and Donald Goines.
All of the above authors have written books that helped shape my mind into the books I write until this day. From blood curdling stories of blood to stories of living be, betrayal and passion, mixed with poetry, I thank them for inspiring me.
Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?
Be unapologetically you. Write to express yourself, and let that leave an impression on your readers. Everyone isn’t going to like what you write, so write from your heart and edit with your gut. Make your moves in silence. Do your research on the publishing industry and learn about contracts, rights, and copyrights. Always protect your voice.
