About the Author

Don Campbell is an artist specializing in portrait and figurative sculptures. His medium of choice is clay. “A storyteller in clay” is how he describes himself, with each sculpture telling as many stories as there are people who cast their gaze.

Don worked as a graphic designer for several companies in his native Toronto. He was eventually lured to the U.S. to assume an art director role and freelanced for several advertising agencies. Don eventually launched his own agency, which he has been running for more than 30 years.

Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?

My book is about my journey to find more creativity in my art and life.
Drawing on more than 30 years of experience as a sculptor, as well as lessons learned from great artists and innovators that have influenced me, I share my experiences in developing a creative approach that is both inspiring and informative.
My book will help the reader to open their heart and mind and give voice to what is hidden.

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?

People interested in self-help, self-improvement, artists and anyone interested in raising their consciousness.

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

The Color Purple by Alice Walker. I was inspired and amazed that she could write and invent such interesting characters and a deep insightful story so moving and meaningful that would have a profound effect on me.

The Weather Composer, (Series) by James Mahu. I loved the main character in these books because he is a role model for what a human can achieve as a spiritual being while having a human experience. He gave me hope and expanded my possibilities of what is possible. These books expanded my perspective on the human experience and gave me a vision of a much larger life experience beyond the body.

Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?

If one has a voice inside that has been repressed, ignored or dismissed, I would encourage them to give the voice space to speak or whatever that voice yearns to. And forget about any sense of result or outside response. Just let the voice be free of cynicism, judgement and fear and see what emerges out of that freedom of pure creation.
