Waiting For Pairing by Lauren Megard @laurenmegard

About the Book

Hi
I can’t believe I’m actually writing this but I wrote a book. Surprise lol.
I had kept this on the DL for quite a while because I wasn’t sure if I was ready to reveal such a big piece of me. However, I began to write to finally be able to put into words my experience with grief, growing up fast and finding who I am through it all (which has been pretty out of character for me to speak in detail about on social media or face to face cuz no one wants to be the person at the party to speak about mortality and ruin the vibe). Although there’s not exactly a rule book on how to deal with the shit you’re handed in life, I’ve gained the time to truly reflect this past year. I’ve taken old emotions off of their dusty shelves and confronted them. That can be quite scary sometimes as we try and protect ourselves from feeling anything raw in fear we may never come out on the other side (prob why it took me so long in the first place). Maybe some of these pages will resonate with you, maybe not. But I have found quite the amount of power within myself with just a pen and paper. I learned so many things about myself during this process as well.
And so I present to you “Waiting For Pairing”
Available on Amazon now
So go read it. Or don’t. Ha.

About the Author

Lauren Megard is a social work student at UWRF. She currently lives in a dinky apartment in her college town but hopes to further explore the world because cornfields get extremely tiring to look at. Lauren is absolutely terrible at basic math but feels at home when reading or writing -particularly when writing to create closure in things that can’t be simply answered.

Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?

Waiting For Pairing is a literary diary collection about experiences with sudden loss, mental health and soul searching afterlife has done a complete 180 on you. It reflects on the difficult questions that seem to be unanswerable during a sort of unexpected ego death and the journey to finding your identity.

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?

I think Waiting For Pairing is appropriate for all ages. However, I would love to see it more in the hands of a younger adult audience who are going through some of the same things during their “prime-age” as a tool to connect with themselves.

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

The book that pops into my mind right away is the memoir “A Piece of Cake” by Cupcake Brown. One of the biggest messages I have found through “A Piece of Cake” and others similar to it is that there is great strength in humility. That is a lesson that has stuck with me ever since I read it.

Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?

Lmao I couldn’t tell you. I don’t know how I got here but here we are. My only advice would to be to pursue whatever brings you knowledge and passion. Someone out there has something to learn and gain from your outlet.. Even if that’s yourself. I learned so much about myself during the writing process and found so much power in just a pen and paper.

Qn 5: Where can our readers find out more about you, do you have a website, or a way to be contacted?

I’m not that professional so I don’t have a website lol. I have Instagram and Bird App if you want to connect with me on either of those @laurenmegard. My book can be found on Amazon and through both my Instagram and Bird App bios.
