The Sound of the Broken Wand: The Poems  @tikiblacktunes

About the Book

Award-winning singer and songwriter Tiki Black blends her multicultural assets to create intricate lyrics and memorable music. Tiki now bares her soul with her first book, The Sound Of The Broken Wand, a beautifully written collection of poems and a unique accompaniment to her sophomore album. The artist weaves the wealth of her experience into each line, celebrating the magic of human emancipation, as it breaks the spell of survival and allows us to experience the infinite possibilities of life.

About the Author

I love words and music. Their power to entertain, nourish, calm, teach, nurture, heal and much more, is just magic. My interests seem to be directly linked to these two, including songwriting, book beta-reading, editing and proofreading, ghostwriting and rewriting, broadcasting and helping authors and musicians with all sorts, from character development to digital marketing.
Two other activities I enjoy are hiking and travelling. They fuel your muse, breathe fresh air into your mind and heart, and promote body and mind health.

Qn 1: Can you tell us more about your book What is it about?

The book is a journey through 6 themes present in folk tales to explore life in rhymes, break the spell of survival and encourage emancipation.

Qn 2: Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?

I think anyone who wants to find magic in life, whether it is to acknowledge the obstacles they face or to encourage or celebrate their breakthroughs. Everyone needs to be reminded they are “the magic of life” and to be motivated to find and mark their unique contribution to life.

Qn 3: Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors, which are your favourite and why?

I have multiple favourite books and favourite authors for different reasons and at different periods.
At the moment, I like Mo Xiang Tong Xiu’s Heaven Official’s Blessing.
Patrick Süskind’s Perfume, Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist, The Little Prince from St Exupéry, Ville Cruelle (Crual City) by Mongo Beti, Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, La Dernière Princesse de Mandchourie (the last Manchurian princess) by Lilian Lee… there are so many. For some is the vivid depictions that makes everything so real, others feel like transformational, motivating or inspiring tales, some find the humour in spite of the pain, etc

Qn 4: What guidance would you offer to someone new, or trying to enhance their writing?

I would say WRITE constantly. Put everything and anything on paper or equivalent: your reactions to a piece of art, your feelings, your aspirations, your opinions, your version of a story, a short story a day on a different subject. Find your way of writing: recording your voice and typing later, typing, dictating, etc.

Qn 5: Where can our readers find out more about you, do you have a website, or a way to be contacted?

Yes. My official website is https://tikiblack.com. I am also on social media: facebook.com/tikiblack, Instagram.com/tikiblack…
